The Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros securing the championship in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their maiden championship series since the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs, Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning, guiding the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series victory in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for our team, Toronto, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "What an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now hit twenty-three playoff homers, making him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of anyone else on planet Earth that I'd choose in that situation other than George Springer with his October magic," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but applauded their performance this season.

"This is a unique group. Sadly that we finished on the wrong side of the series," he added.

Toronto secured the title on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in game one on Friday.
