Renowned Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

American performer Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved programs including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away aged 60.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to reports.

"He never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his family stated in a announcement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the lead character's sibling.

He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He starred as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of well-known programs, including:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

His most famous role for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His work in movies encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired many learners during his career and it's nearly impossible to find someone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he shared publicly.

Finn is survived by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
